This particular 1" wide tape is used to remove excess foil that has a tendency to transfer to the toner graphic where it should not, which can happen due to "surface tension". It is normally only available in custom "paint" stores.

The tape is very similar to the adhesive used on conventional low-tack "Post-It Notes".

Strips of the 1" wide tape are laid down in a slightly overlapping method over the graphic that has already had a colorizing TRF film appllied the graphic. The strip are then lifted off which removes any excess foil.
